The Morgan State University Choir was named “The Best College Choir in the U

The Morgan State University Choir was named “The Best College Choir in the U.S. by Readers Digest in its list of “America’s 100 Best”. Singing classical, gospel, and contemporary popular music, the choir’s emphasis is on preserving the heritage of the spiritual.

Eric Conway, the present Director of the Morgan State University, has served as Associate Conductor and principal accompanist for the past twenty years under the leadership of the late Nathan Carter.  He is also chairperson of the Morgan State University Fine Arts Department.

 

He received his doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Peabody Conservatory of the John Hopkins University where he majored in Piano Performance and minored in Conducting.  While there he was a recipient of the prestigious Liberace Scholarship and a winner in the Yale Cordon Concerto Competition where he earned the honor of playing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra.

 

He has many significant accomplishments as pianist, including a tour of Eastern Africa and as soloist with several orchestras within the United States.

 

Dr. Conway also holds degrees in both Accounting and Business Management and is also a Certified Public Accountant.  He was recently appointed by Governor O’Malloy as a member of the MD State Arts Council.
